My love for J. Crew

My love for J. Crew is deep! There are a plethora of reasons why I love Crew clothes, but one is because they do glitz and glam better than anyone else.  Adding the perfect sequin skirt or clutch will take your outfit to the next level. Make it pop!

Let the clothes speak for themselves:

Now I would style these items differently but aren't they fabulous?  J. CREW makes quality clothes and the price tag definitely reflects it honey...... That's why I love to LOOK.  But all of the pieces shown here are on sale. If you want to check them out, click the link above.

Love you J!

Happy Valentine's Day

Hallmark hit the nail on the head this year. I enjoy this Valentine's Day commercial because its shows people celebrating their love not trying to confirm it.  The confirmation comes with your daily actions. Its so nice to have a holiday that celebrates love because it is the best feeling in the entire world! Anyone that has been in love or that is in love would agree! If not... *side eye*

Even if you are not in love with anyone please don't use this day as an excuse to be bitter. Being a debby downer on Valentine's Day makes people around you pity you. Don't be that person! It's not a good look. Be happy for the people around you and thankful for any type of love in your life. Rather it's from family, friends, or just The One above. We all have something to be thankful for!  So please don't be the bitter lady in the office today talking about you hate flowers and chocolate. STOP LYIN!  Smile and keep it moving!

A tweet from my girl sums it up:

 Brandy C
Regardless if you have a mate or not. If you experience "love" which we all do from God, no need for the ungrateful tweets! Brighten up! :-)

Well put ma'am!  Happy Lover's Day!

MUAH! XOXO!

Curl It Up!

I've decided to wear my hair curly.  I've been completely natural for a good nine months now but I've always worn it straight.  I chopped off my hair in 09' because I was so tired of my look. I had the short bob going on by this time and it was tiiiiired. So I cut it. Since I cut my hair, my new hair dresser at the time, Karen  Gary, (Check her out! http://www.synergisalon.com ) talked me into going natural.
I made the transition with relaxed to natural hair with my short cut.  I fell in love with my short hair and I really don't want to grow it out right now. I just want to learn how to rock the short curly style.

The main reason I'm wearing my hair curly is because I work out too much! You can't have straight natural hair and work out 5 days a week.  Your hair won't stay straight. It just becomes a big bush and I have to put heat on it to look presentable after workouts. Everyone knows too much heat is horrible for the hair so I'm going to try the curls.  I refuse to give up my workout regimen, especially since I'm training for marathon numero dos! (updates to come) If it was up to me I would always wear the wig straight. It is just my preference. But healthy hair is more important to me than straight hair.  Blah blah blah. Therefore changes have to be made. *sigh*

The problem is I'm not into hair. I never have been. As long as it looks decent and I have on a bangin outfit I'm good. Hair styling or hair care is not my forte! I know my weakness so I've looked to natural hair experts for their advice.  The main source I've been getting my information from is The Moptop Maven. This lady's hair is beautiful and her blog is amazing.  If you need any help on how to have fabulous natural hair start here. http://moptopmaven.blogspot.com  I've also been giving my girls Brandy and Autumn an ear full since they have fabulous natural hair as well.

I hope my family and friends can keep my encouraged on this curly journey. I don't have the patience to keep myself going. OH! And let me just say, I will not be that natural girl wearing flowers in her head all the time. NO. I'm not trying to be funny but those hair flowers can be a disaster. 85% of the time you see a natural woman who didn't do her hair and thought, let me add a flower to this mess to give it some flare. STOP!  I've seen some people rock them right but mostly I just want them to stop. Now. I don't want to look a mess ya'll. I won't. I just can't.

I will keep everyone updated on my curly transition.  If you have any suggestions on products and styling. Let me know!  Thank you! *whitley voice*

Socially Retarded

I few weeks ago a simple woman walked straight into a mall fountain. You ask, is she blind? Did she trip? Was she trying to collect the money at the bottom of the fountain?! NO! This genius was looking down at her phone and walked straight into the water. *smh*  She was texting her boo or checking her twitter timeline and forgot a basic rule of walking; look up and see what's in front of you!  Fool! In my book, this makes her socially retarded.  Yes a "Retard" © Alan from 'The Hangover'.  The definition of a retard in my book, is someone who has all the mental capacity in the world and still has NO sense!  Now I  work with some amazing mentally disabled children and I wouldn't dare use this term to describe them.  Now little mermaid is a perfect fit for this term.  I'm not trying to be funny but Ariel over here has proven her social retardation!

Now when I saw this video of our retard playin slip-n-slide in the mall fountain, I did what I normally do, laugh and move on.  Until the other day.  I was sitting in the mall eating my Auntie Anne's pretzel with my delicious cheese dip when someone bumped into the back of my chair. HARD! I looked behind me and there was retard #2! A young girl looking down at her phone not paying attention. When her stomach hit my chair she finally decided to look up and realize where she was. She apologized and continued her retarded ways by looking down at her phone and walking through a crowded mall.

After retard #2 interrupted my snack, I started thinking about how many people do this on a daily basis.  Everyone is so concerned about their hand held devices, that they are missing out on what is in front of them.  Some people are so caught up in their cyber lives they forget to enjoy their real life. (But that's a whole other topic) What happened to walking and talking to the real person standing next to you? Or here's a novel idea, if you're going to look down at your phone for whatever reason STOP WALKING! We have to do better people.  We can't let walking and writing become a social norm.  Stop this trend and look up please. Thank you!
